Welcome! Nestled within more than 700 acres of Western Maryland's Savage River State Forest, the Savage River Lodge is a peaceful retreat from a busy world. Whether you prefer to watch nature from your rocking chair or spend your day in pursuit of your favorite outdoor activity, you'll take home the spirit of the forest...and the Savage River Lodge.

Our eighteen luxury cabins and the nearby Lodge building, surrounded by the forest, convey a rustic, lived-in comfort. Our amenities and appointments, however are decidedly upscale and infused with a genuinely friendly and relaxed hospitality.

The Lodge is the central gathering point. A spacious 10,000 square feet of space offers 3 floors of multi-use areas. The first floor is home to a 75 seat restaurant serving American regional cuisine, Great Room with double sided fireplace and relaxing, sink into furniture, and full bar. You will also find the Front Desk and Sports and Recreation Desk on the same floor. This is the place where guests check-in, find answers to questions, set up recreation trips, get advice on hiking trails, and much more.

The second floor houses the library. The library is home to a collection of hundreds of books with ample space to read, relax, and explore. The main library space is open to use for meeting and events up to 40 people. The loft library has comfortable reading areas and places to play board games.

Is there a birthday or anniversary on your calendar? Are you looking for a special place for a special milestone? Try a “Celebration” package: two one-hour in-cabin massages, special Lodge robes for your use while you’re here and a half bottle of Moet Chandon, White Star, Champagne. If you wish, we can arrange for flowers in your room upon arrival, cheese and fruit plates, snack baskets and some special touches that mean something special to you or your loved one.

The Savage River Lodge meeting facilities are a world apart from the "standard" hotel meeting room. The upper level 1,200 square foot main meeting room features log walls, cathedral ceiling, French doors leading to a treetop-view deck, comfortable furniture, ample break-out spaces and business amenities.

Outdoor Adventure Retreats

Art and Nature package for two; will allow you to enjoy the most widely acclaimed works of Architecture by Frank Lloyd Wright. We will arrange your tours of Fallingwater and Kentuck Knob and send you off with two gourmet packed lunches to enjoy on the beautiful Bear Run Nature Reserve near Fallingwater.

Adventure Bike Package is the bike trip you have been looking for – the one that is already planned! In just three days you will bike from Boston, PA to Cumberland, MD covering a total of 120 miles of the Great Allegany Passage bike trail. This package includes a biker’s breakfast, shuttle service, packed lunches and all of the tips for great things to see along the way that you can write down. The best part is all you have to do is get to the Lodge and we will take over from there.
